You may be familiar with the saying shared by many contractors and builders:
Pick two of the following:
-Cheap (Cost-Savings)
-Fast
-Good (Quality)
The claim, which we're convinced is a harmful misconception, implies that having all three is impossible, and one will always have to compromise on one of the qualities. BYLD aims to disrupt that notion by providing high quality affordable housing with very short lead times.
Cheap (Cost-Savings): BYLD is capable of charging an affordable rate for a fully finished modular home and still receive profit margins that ensure our company is healthy and able to continue providing value to communities. Where BYLD saves is on labor due to us building in a factory. Onsite construction aggregates the cost of overhead and profit for each trade and often a general contractor, while BYLD only has to worry about its own overhead and profit since all the trades are internal to the company.
Fast: BYLD begins construction at the same time or sooner than the commencement of sitework. Traditional onsite construction is a painful series of linear, dependent steps whereas in a factory, with the aid of automation and process control there is more opportunity to complete stages of the building process in tandem with others.
Good (Quality): BYLD uses structural insulated panels (SIPs). There is a lot to be said here but, in brief, it is a superior building product that is 2x stronger and more energy-efficient than a standard stick-built home. On top of that, we place an emphasis on high quality, durable materials even if it costs more, while still maintaining an affordable rate.
-Nic Dark, Head Engineer and Plant Manager
SIPs homes are safer, cost less to build, and cost less to heat and cool. There is no reason to compromise cost, speed, or quality when purchasing a BYLD Modular Home.
